A year ago, this studio was only a prayer and a set of keys. I had stepped away from hair for eight years, convinced that dream had passed me by. Then life reminded me of a gift I thought I had lost, and that gift carried me through one of the hardest seasons of my life and right up to the door of Studio IAM Beauté, here in the Galeries Terrebonne area.

This month, we turn one. And when I look back, I do not mostly see a business. I see women. I see the stories that sat in my chair, the tears and the laughter, the transformations that were never only about hair.

A prayer and a set of keys

It began with a renewed passion and a simple yes, said in faith. Nine months of investment, dedication and hard work later, I lost my job. Three days after that, I signed a lease and received the keys to my own studio. God works in mysterious ways. If this first year taught me anything, it is that what looks like an ending is often a redirection.

What the chair taught me

I learned that beauty truly begins from within. Before every appointment, I take a moment to pray over the woman who is about to sit down. Because she is never only a hairstyle to complete. She is a story, a faith, a journey.

I also learned patience. Hair grows in its own time, and so do we. The season that feels slow is often the one that is quietly shaping you.

The women who made the year

Every woman who trusted me with her hair also trusted me with a piece of her heart. You reminded me, again and again, why I call this a ministry and not only a service. A safe space. A chair where you leave more beautiful, but mostly more yourself.

Toward the next season

One year in, I am more sure than ever of the why behind this studio. There is a bigger celebration coming this September, at the start of the new season, and I would love to mark this milestone with you.

If you are in a season where you cannot yet see where the road leads, let me say it gently: trust the process, and be patient. Keep going.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”
Song of Songs 4:7
